A man from Florida has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for raping a 13-year-old girl, who was a member of the family he was staying with, and then forcing her to take the emergency contraception pill, Plan B.
Robert McGuire Jr., 34, pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual battery against a person aged 12 to 18 last week, as per a statement from prosecutors. He has been sentenced to 18-and-a-half years in the Florida Department of Corrections.
Additionally, McGuire will need to register as a sex offender and complete 10 years of sex offender probation upon his release.
Walter Forgie, Florida’s chief assistant state attorney, expressed that “The cruel actions and intent behind this defendant’s crimes are repulsive.” He commended the victim for speaking up and seeking help, ensuring McGuire would face consequences.
The assaults took place on two consecutive days in October 2021 while McGuire was residing with family friends, as reported by the News & Observer.
According to a Hernando County Sheriff’s Office arrest affidavit, McGuire had been living in a spare room at the family’s house for approximately six months. The victim disclosed the assaults to a trusted adult, leading authorities to investigate the case.
The victim stated that McGuire threatened to harm her if she reported the rapes and also coerced her into taking Plan B, the morning-after pill.

Law enforcement was able to match DNA evidence from the crime scene to McGuire, linking him to the sexual assault. Additionally, surveillance footage from a CVS confirmed McGuire purchasing the Plan B pill.
McGuire had initially denied the allegations made against him but has now been convicted and sentenced for his crimes.
