An incident at a Michigan Chipotle took a violent turn when an enraged customer shot an employee during an argument over guacamole.
In a video of the altercation, the suspect, a 32-year-old man, is seen brandishing a firearm as the 21-year-old employee tried to prevent him from leaving the store by grabbing his sweatshirt.
Witness Thomas Huber recounted the event, stating, “I was just eating a bowl and I heard shouting. And then I looked over, they’re arguing. One of the workers went to the back, I don’t know why, and then when he was in the back, the customer walked around the counter, tried to grab his food and put it in a bag.”
After the employee returned, a physical altercation ensued, leading to a gunshot, causing witnesses to flee the scene.
The employee sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and was taken to a local hospital in stable condition, according to Southfield police.
The suspect, a Detroit man whose identity has not been disclosed, fled the scene leisurely, as witnessed by Micahel Beales who filmed the incident from his car.
Authorities were able to track down the gunman at a nearby location shortly after the shooting, but the charges he may face remain unclear.
Chipotle has not yet issued a statement regarding the incident.
