Melania Trump Returns to GOP Fundraising Circuit
Former first lady Melania Trump, who has been relatively absent from her husband’s presidential campaign events, is making a comeback on the GOP fundraising scene. She is scheduled to host a major political fundraiser for the Log Cabin Republicans on April 20 at Mar-a-Lago, the Palm Beach, Florida club where she and former president Donald Trump reside. The invitation for the event was obtained by POLITICO.
Melania Trump has a strong connection with the Log Cabin Republicans, an organization that represents LGBT conservatives and allies. She was a special guest at one of their dinners in 2021 and received an award. The former president himself spoke at one of their events in 2022 at Mar-a-Lago.
The upcoming event in April marks the launch of the organization’s “Road to Victory” program, which aims to reach out to voters in key swing states.
A spokesperson for the Trumps did not provide an immediate comment on the event. However, last month Melania Trump hinted at her return to the campaign trail when asked by a reporter, saying “stay tuned” while attending a wake for a slain New York City police officer with her husband.
The host committee for the fundraiser includes notable Republican donors such as Saul Fox, Amanda Schumacher, Bill White, Bryan Eure, and Richard Grenell, who previously served as Trump’s ambassador to Germany and acting director of national intelligence. Elizabeth Ailes, a former NBC News executive and widow of Roger Ailes, and Deborah Magowan, widow of Peter Magowan, former owner of the San Francisco Giants, are also listed as part of the committee.
