Reports indicate that two individuals lost their lives when a shooter opened fire at a law office near Las Vegas on Monday morning.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department swiftly responded to the shooting at a business in Summerlin, located approximately 15 miles west of the Las Vegas Strip, around 10 a.m. local time.
According to a law enforcement source cited by local outlet KTNV, the gunman took the lives of two individuals inside the Prince Law Group office before turning the weapon on himself during a deposition.
Authorities closed off traffic in the vicinity of the incident at the intersection of Charleston Boulevard and Pavilion Center Drive.
“This is a dynamic event and multiple LVMPD emergency vehicles are responding,” the police shared on social media. “Please avoid the area.”
Local schools were briefly placed on soft lockdowns as a precautionary measure following the shooting, as reported by FOX 5. The lockdowns have since been lifted.
City National Bank and a Life Time gym in the vicinity were not placed on lockdown as there was no perceived ongoing threat, according to sources cited by FOX 5.
Law enforcement officials are currently conducting an investigation into the incident.
