A New York model is preparing to take legal action against a Manhattan lounge after he was viciously attacked and robbed outside the establishment. Adam Byrd, 33, was left with a broken jaw and missing teeth following the assault, which he claims was targeted and carried out by a group of men who also stole a $35,000 necklace from him. Byrd alleges that despite the presence of security personnel just a few feet away, they did nothing to intervene during the attack.
Byrd, a model and actor, plans to sue the security staff and Tao Group Hospitality, the owner of the Little Sister Lounge in the East Village, for negligence. His attorney, Anthony C. Sears, stated that the security’s inaction was a clear case of negligence.
According to Byrd, the incident occurred as he was leaving the lounge with a friend when they were suddenly ambushed by the assailants. His friend was attacked first, followed by Byrd who was brutally beaten, kicked, and hit with a belt. Despite his pleas for help, the security guards allegedly did not intervene.
Byrd was left with significant injuries, including a broken jaw that required emergency surgery and a lengthy recovery period. He expressed feeling paranoid and targeted following the incident and criticized the security personnel for their lack of assistance during the attack.
Sears, the attorney representing Byrd, described the case as one of the most egregious examples of negligent security he has encountered. He emphasized the importance of security guards taking proactive measures to protect patrons of establishments.
The Tao Group, which owns the lounge, has not responded to inquiries about the incident. The suspects responsible for the attack are still at large, according to police reports.
