The Biden Administration is accused of suppressing intelligence reports regarding U.S. military relations with Niger, as per a report by Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla. U.S. military members have reported difficulties in receiving essential support from the Pentagon, including medicine and mail.
According to Gaetz, the Biden Administration and the State Department are concealing the true conditions of U.S. diplomatic relations in Niger, leaving troops without necessary assistance. This comes after Niger’s ruling junta spokesperson revoked the counterterrorism partnership agreement with the U.S., citing violations of Niger’s constitution.
Despite the Pentagon’s attempts to seek clarification, the situation remains uncertain. The U.S. Embassy in Niger, under Ambassador Kathleen FitzGibbon, is accused of covering up diplomatic failures and dismissing crucial intelligence from various sources.
“The Biden Administration and the State Department are engaged in a massive cover-up.”
Service members in Niger feel stranded and unable to carry out missions or return home due to restrictions imposed by Niger. The report highlights the challenges faced by military personnel stationed in Niger, including the lack of essential supplies and the denial of diplomatic clearances for military flights.
Concerns have been raised about the blood bank not being replenished and critical medications running out for individual service members. Gaetz urges the Biden administration to acknowledge the failure of their strategy in Niger and bring the troops home to ensure their safety.
