Trump PACs Paid $4.2 Million in Legal Fees in March

The Trump campaign’s legal expenses for 2024 have surpassed $16.1 million, with various political committees associated with former President Donald Trump covering more than $16 million in legal fees since the beginning of the year. Three groups linked to the Trump campaign disclosed spending approximately $4.2 million in March for legal expenses, while two other groups revealed spending an additional $1.8 million in the first quarter of 2024. Save America, President Trump’s leadership PAC, has been the largest spender, paying around $3.7 million to law firms for legal consulting and fees in March. The PAC receives most of its funds from another Trump-affiliated account, Make America Great Again Inc. MAGA Inc., a super PAC, has consistently sent $5 million to Save America each month, marked as a “refund of federal contribution.” Save America also sent $780,000 to Make America Great Again PAC in March. MAGA PAC spent approximately $2.3 million in legal services between January and March, ending the quarter with $43,000 on hand. Other committees associated with Trump also paid legal expenses, with Donald J. Trump For President 2024 Inc. paying $473,000 in legal fees in March, and the Trump Save America Joint Fundraising Committee covering $37,000 in legal costs. MAGA Inc. also paid $21,000 in legal expenses in March. The legal battles continue for President Trump, with ongoing trials and suits across the country that he has denounced as politically motivated. The former president is currently facing a hush money trial in New York, where jury selection recently concluded, and opening arguments are set to begin on April 22.
