House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) is currently investigating the fatal federal law enforcement raid on Bryan Malinowski, the airport director of Little Rock, Arkansas, which took place on March 19.
The ATF’s Little Rock field office suspected Malinowski, the executive director of the Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport, of selling firearms without a license and without conducting background checks. They obtained a warrant to search his home and arrived at around 6 a.m. on the specified date wearing full tactical gear.
After the federal agents entered Malinowski’s home, an exchange of gunfire occurred, resulting in him being shot at least once in the head. He succumbed to his injuries two days later.
On Monday, Mr. Jordan wrote a letter to ATF Director Steven Dettelbach, demanding that the agency provide records related to the lethal raid. The letter raised concerns about whether the ATF followed proper procedures during the execution of the search warrant.
The circumstances surrounding Malinowski’s death have prompted questions about the ATF’s adherence to protocol. Mr. Jordan requested all documents pertaining to the planning and execution of the search warrant, including any audio recordings from the raid if body camera footage is unavailable.
Additionally, Mr. Jordan asked for clarification on the lack of body camera footage from the raid and the number of “no knock” entries conducted by the ATF since the policy memorandum issued by Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco in September 2021.
The ATF and the DOJ were contacted for comments on the March 19 raid, with the ATF spokesperson stating that the matter is under review by state authorities in Arkansas and the DOJ declining to comment on pending matters.
