Barr expressed his support for former President Trump in the 2024 election, stating that he believes the real threat to democracy lies with the progressive movement and the Biden administration. Despite President Trump’s mocking response to his endorsement, Mr. Barr reiterated his decision to back the Republican nominee as he believes it would do less harm to the country. He emphasized that personal animus should not dictate such important decisions and highlighted concerns about the progressive agenda supported by the Biden administration, which he sees as a threat to freedom and democracy. Mr. Barr pointed out various issues such as parental control over education, censorship, and regulatory agendas that he believes infringe on individual freedoms. He criticized the Biden administration’s actions, including its approach to climate policy and student loan forgiveness, describing it as a disaster for the country.
Barr has been highly critical of his former boss, President Trump.
During the 2020 election, he did not support Trump’s claims of fraud and resigned from office in December of that year.
He later worked with the Democrat-led House Jan. 6 subcommittee to investigate the breach at the U.S. Capitol in 2021. He also supported special counsel Jack Smith’s cases against the former president.
In an interview with CNN on April 26, Barr stated that while he was vocal in criticizing Trump’s election challenges, he believes they are minor compared to the progressive agenda supported by President Biden.
