For Canadian students seeking employment in the upcoming weeks, the federal government’s Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) program offers over 70,000 job opportunities. The program aims to connect students with companies offering summer job positions in various sectors, including not-for-profit, public, and private industries. Students aged 15 to 30 are eligible to apply for these positions.
Employers are hiring until July 22, with job durations typically lasting eight weeks. However, listings on the Job Bank range from six to 16 weeks, offering 30 to 40 hours per week.
To qualify for CSJ, students must have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) and be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or have refugee status in Canada.
Last year, CSJ exceeded its target by creating over 74,200 jobs. The program provides students with opportunities in various fields such as recreation, food industry, marketing, tourism, skilled trades, and environmental protection.
Job options range from office work to child care to web design, with wages typically ranging from minimum wage to $20 per hour, and some positions offering $21 per hour or more.
Additional job listings will be added to the Job Bank in the coming weeks. Interested individuals can explore job opportunities in their communities through the Job Bank website and mobile app.
