Trump for President, urged the Biden campaign to reconsider its stance on additional debates.
“The American people deserve to hear directly from the candidates on the critical issues facing our country. We therefore urge you to engage in a series of debates to ensure that voters have a clear understanding of the policy differences between the two candidates,” the memo read.
The Trump campaign proposed a total of five debates, including the two already agreed upon, with additional debates hosted by various networks such as NBC, Telemundo, and Fox News.
“These debates are crucial for the democratic process and for voters to make an informed decision in November,” the memo concluded.
As of now, it remains uncertain whether the Biden campaign will reconsider its position on additional debates, as the two candidates continue to spar over the format and scheduling of their upcoming debates.
“Today is a good day for America’s voters, now that Joe Biden has FINALLY accepted President Trump’s debate challenge,” the memo reads.
The Trump campaign is advocating additional debates, suggesting that there should be one debate per month from June through September, in addition to the vice presidential debate.
The campaign said the rationale behind this proposal is the belief that American voters deserve more opportunities to hear directly from the candidates, especially in light of current national issues.
“No more games. No more chaos, no more debate about debates,” she said in the statement. “We’ll see Donald Trump on June 27th in Atlanta – if he shows up.”
