Border Patrol agents intercepted a U.S. citizen living in Mexico on Interstate 10 in Indio, California. The woman, Adriana Galindo, 34, was arrested on May 14 after officers found over 90 pounds of fentanyl pills in her car during a traffic stop in Coachella Valley.
Galindo, who resided in San Luis RÃo Colorado, Mexico, was scheduled to appear in federal court in Riverside following her arrest on charges of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance. If convicted, she could face a minimum of 10 years to life imprisonment in a federal prison.
During a routine stop on Interstate 10 in Indio, Border Patrol agents searched Galindo’s vehicle, where a trained narcotics K-9 detected the presence of narcotics. Subsequently, they found about 93.3 pounds of fentanyl pills hidden in a non-factory compartment under the car’s front seats.
Galindo was taken into custody, while her juvenile son was released to his aunt in California. The Drug Enforcement Administration and United States Border Patrol are conducting an investigation into the case.
