A tragic incident occurred in Burbank, California on May 24th, when a pedestrian was struck and killed by a Metrolink train. The collision took place at the rail crossing of Buena Vista Street and Vanowen Street around 5:50 a.m. on Metrolink’s Ventura County Line, which connects Burbank to L.A. Union Station.
Upon receiving reports of the accident, officers from the Burbank Police Department quickly responded to the scene. The train, traveling southbound, came to a halt after the collision, with no injuries reported among the passengers on board.
Regrettably, the victim was pronounced dead at the site of the incident. Despite the absence of injuries to passengers, the emotional toll was significant. A Metrolink official confirmed that there were 39 passengers on the train, all of whom were unharmed.
Temporary bus services were arranged to transport passengers between Hollywood Burbank Airport and Union Station. The identity of the victim, believed to be a Latina woman, was pending confirmation by authorities.
Various agencies including detectives, Metrolink officials, a Los Angeles County coroner investigator, and personnel from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department were involved in the investigation. The incident is currently under thorough examination.
