The cause of the fire at the historic Burn Bullock pub in London’s south-west is now under investigation, according to the London Fire Brigade.
Emergency crews responded to reports of a fire at the heritage-listed pub on London Road in Mitcham around 7.30 p.m. on Friday night.
The fire attracted emergency crews from Norbury, Wimbledon, and Tooting in 12 fire engines, with about 80 firefighters on the scene. Despite their efforts, the building sustained significant damage, with half of the ground, first, and second floors affected, along with the roof.
Four men were assessed by London Ambulance Service crews at the scene. Eyewitness Amzy, who lives near the pub, described seeing the flames and expressed sadness at the loss of the historic building.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
