Accused sex trafficker Alon Alexander will remain in custody while facing gang rape and other charges, as a judge considers him a flight risk.
Alon and his twin brother Oren are facing sex trafficking and gang rape charges in Florida. The judge denied Alon’s request for bond due to his ties to Israel, where his parents are from and his wife currently resides.
Magistrate Judge Eduardo Sanchez made the ruling on Alon’s bail request on Friday.
Oren will have his bond hearing on Tuesday, while their older brother Tal was denied bond previously.
The wealthy Alexander family proposed a bail amount exceeding $100 million to secure the brothers’ release, but prosecutors argued that the twins are a danger to the community.
Another judge denied a $115 million bond request for Tal, who is charged with the twins in a conspiracy to commit sex trafficking and related crimes.
If convicted, the brothers face life in prison.
Oren and Tal are prominent luxury real estate brokers in New York City and Miami Beach.
Alon, who has a law degree, worked for the family’s security firm in Miami.
The U.S. Assistant Attorney argued that no conditions would ensure community safety if the brothers were released, as they have a history of misconduct.
The FBI has identified and interviewed around 42 victims in the case, with more coming forward since the brothers’ arrest.
“The case is only getting stronger as time goes on,” said the U.S. Assistant Attorney.
