Some of his accusers said they met him online via dating apps.
Actor Gabriel Olds, known for his roles on hit television shows, including “Law & Order,” “Six Feet Under,” “Criminal Minds,” and “NCIS,” was arrested on Aug. 7 for allegations of violent sexual assault, as confirmed by the Los Angeles Police Department.
The police department reported that a 41-year-old woman, who remained unnamed, came forward on Jan. 19, 2023, accusing Olds of sexually assaulting her in her Los Angeles home.
“Two additional adult victims later came forward and made similar reports dating back to 2013, describing consensual dating encounters that descended into violent sexual assault,” the news release stated.
Aside from the three reported cases of sexual assault, investigators identified two other women who alleged “lesser violent sexual conduct.”
The victims claimed that Olds, a Yale University graduate, used his Ivy League background and entertainment industry status to connect with them. Some of the women mentioned meeting Olds online via dating apps.
“Each victim reported that Olds lured them into a false sense of security during their initial encounters, then turned violent without seeking their consent,” as stated by the LAPD.
The actor’s subsequent television roles include “Party of Five,” “Sisters,” “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” “JAG,” “Tru Calling,” “Century City,” “Judging Amy,” “The Inside,” and “Numb3rs,” among others.
More recently, Olds appeared in a 2023 episode of “The Rookie: Feds,” and starred in an episode of “FBI: International” the previous year. In 2021, he secured a role in the film “The Eyes of Tammy Faye,” alongside actors Jessica Chastain, Andrew Garfield, and Cherry Jones.
Due to Olds’s frequent travel for his acting profession, detectives with the LAPD’s Operations-West Bureau’s Special Assault Section suspect there may be additional victims and are encouraging any more victims and potential witnesses to come forward.
“We heard the same story again and again,” stated Detective Brent Hopkins, a Special Assault Section supervisor. “Mr. Olds started off charming, but then used brutal violence to carry out these rapes. Some of these survivors suffered in silence for years before finding the strength to speak up. Now that he’s off the streets, we want to make sure everyone has a chance to be heard.”
Olds is currently being held on $3.5 million bail.
