Air Canada is set to expand its service to India by offering non-stop flights from Toronto to Mumbai. In addition, the airline will introduce daily flights from Montreal to Delhi and seasonal daily flights via London Heathrow, increasing seat capacity by 40 percent on flights to India starting in October.
Mark Galardo, Air Canada’s executive VP of revenue and network planning, emphasized the significance of the Indian market for the airline, citing the strong ties between the two countries. He expressed excitement about expanding the network to Mumbai and Delhi in time for the Diwali celebrations this fall.
Starting October 27, flights from Toronto to Mumbai will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, with return flights on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Travellers can also fly daily from Calgary to London’s Heathrow Airport with Air Canada, connecting to flights to Delhi starting October 27.
Moreover, non-stop flights from Ottawa to Calgary and Winnipeg will now operate year-round, with additional connections from the capital to Quebec City, Halifax, and Vancouver.
Winter travelers will have more options as Air Canada introduces flights to Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, Orlando, Cancun, and Punta Cana.
After facing a decline in passenger numbers during the pandemic, Air Canada has been on a path to recovery.
Data from analytics firm Cirium revealed that only 63 Air Canada flights arrived on time in the previous year, with a significant number of flights experiencing delays. Additionally, a survey showed that Air Canada ranked poorly in customer satisfaction compared to other North American airlines.
In a poll by J.D. Power, Air Canada was rated last in business class and premium economy, and ninth out of 11 in economy class.
