All the children who were injured in the tragic stabbing at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in the UK have been discharged from the hospital, according to officials.
The final young survivor was released from Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital on Thursday after spending eight days there following the violent attack on July 29 carried out by a knife-wielding assailant.
The incident resulted in the loss of Bebe King, 6; Elsie Dot Stancombe, 7; and Alice Dasilva Aguiar, 9.Â
“This has been an incredibly challenging time for our country, especially for the families affected by these tragic events. We are grateful for the ongoing support and empathy from everyone during this difficult period,” stated her family in a social media post shared by the Merseyside Police.
“While we are relieved that our daughter is recovering, our thoughts are with the families of Bebe, Alice, and Elsie as they go through this incredibly painful time. Thank you.”
The girl, who remains unnamed, is one of eight children who were injured during the senseless attack.
The current condition of the two adults, who were in critical condition following the tragedy, is unknown.
Authorities reported that 17-year-old Axel Rudakubana entered the Hart Space during a Taylor Swift-themed dance and yoga workshop for children aged 6 to 11.
The motive behind why the teenager targeted the children with a curved blade kitchen knife remains unknown.
Two young girls died at the scene, while a third passed away at the hospital on Tuesday.
The two injured adults — one of whom is Leanne Lucas, 35, the dance class instructor, and John Hayes, a nearby worker who rushed to protect the children upon hearing screams — are still hospitalized.Â
The brutal incident led to riots across the UK fueled by false online rumors linking a Muslim man to the attack.
A far-right group retaliated by attacking police officers, setting fires, and looting local businesses.
The family of the last surviving child to be discharged from the hospital expressed their dismay at the mistreatment of the police, acknowledging their crucial role in providing life-saving care to their loved one.
“We were deeply saddened by the recent violence and attacks on our police force. It is important to recognize that when the tragic events unfolded, our police officers were the first responders on the scene,” they wrote.
“We are extremely thankful to the officers who stood by our daughter, offering assistance and support until she was safely taken to the hospital.”
