MOSCOW—Gas Station Explosion in Chechnya Kills Four
An explosion at a gas station in Russia’s southern region of Chechnya claimed the lives of at least four individuals, according to officials on Saturday.
The blast, which was caused by a gas tank explosion, resulted in a fire at the service station in the regional capital of Grozny. Russia’s Emergencies Ministry revealed that two children were among the casualties. Fortunately, the fire was successfully put out.
Grozny is located approximately 1,500 kilometers (930 miles) south of Moscow.
Regional authorities have initiated a criminal investigation into the incident.
Last month, a similar explosion at a gas station in the neighboring region of Dagestan resulted in the deaths of at least 13 individuals and left 23 others injured.
