Chinese legal scholar Du Wen stated that there are significant differences in interests between China and Russia, as reported by The Epoch Times. Despite claims of strengthening their partnership, no major agreements were reached during Russian President Putin’s recent visit to China. Experts noted that China appears to have reservations about deepening military and economic ties with Russia. Putin’s reliance on China for support due to sanctions from the West was highlighted, with trade and energy deals being crucial aspects of their relationship. The CCP’s conflicted interests were also discussed, with Xi Jinping possibly having reservations despite Putin’s praise for their friendship. The differences in interests between China and Russia were emphasized, with China’s support for Russia limited by its position in the global industrial chain and the need to align with CCP interests. Warnings from the US and EU to China regarding its support for Russia in light of the Ukraine conflict were also mentioned.
On the other hand, he mentioned that while the CCP has been making significant purchases of Russian oil and providing support to Russia, it does not mean that there are no boundaries.
“If the West responds with strength, the CCP will be forced to retreat,” he stated.
