An assistant Ohio prosecutor has been fired for allegedly biting off a man’s finger during a road rage incident last month. Former Greene County Assistant Prosecutor Christopher Murray is accused of the assault that took place on June 30. The victim honked at Murray at a green light, which led to the violent altercation.
The Riverside Police Department responded to the scene after receiving reports of a fight where a man’s finger was bitten off. The victim, a 43-year-old man, was found with a severed middle finger. The incident occurred at an overpass on US Route 35.
The victim explained that he honked at Murray after he failed to move at a green light. Murray then got out of his car, approached the victim, and initiated a physical altercation. During the fight, Murray allegedly bit off the victim’s finger before fleeing the scene.
Murray is facing charges of felonious assault in connection to the incident. The case is pending before a grand jury, and Murray has not been arrested. Following the incident, Murray was terminated from his position as a Greene County assistant prosecutor.
Greene County Prosecuting Attorney David D. Hayes confirmed Murray’s termination and stated that Murray had been on leave since July 9, 2024. Hayes terminated Murray’s employment following a thorough consideration of the incident.
