Crime victims and law enforcement officers are advocating for a return to former President Donald Trump’s policies. In a gathering at the U.S.-Mexico border in Arizona, individuals affected by illegal immigration shared their stories alongside Trump on Aug. 22. They expressed frustration that their voices are not being heard by those in power. From a grieving mother whose daughter was killed by an illegal immigrant to a sheriff facing significant costs due to housing criminal aliens, each person believes that Trump’s policies would address the issues they are facing, prompting their support for his potential return to the presidency. They emphasized the need to prioritize the safety and well-being of Americans affected by illegal immigration.
My community is feeling frustrated.
Since Trump left office, Sheriff Dannels has witnessed the failures of policies in the country and the struggles faced by his neighbors. These issues are being addressed silently as nobody seems to be listening.
Over the past 31 months, deputies have arrested 3,762 individuals for border-related crimes in Cochise County Jail. These crimes include double-digit murders and have cost $12.5 million to process, with no financial support from the federal government.
“America’s sheriffs have been advocating for border security. Despite our efforts to meet with President Biden and Vice President Harris, we have not been successful,” Sheriff Dannels expressed.
During Trump’s administration, Sheriff Dannels had frequent visits to the White House, where he felt supported. Addressing Trump, he stated, “I can assure you, Mr. President, that our community and law enforcement professionals will never lose hope. Hope to us means confidence, commitment, and courage. Your visit today renews our hope.”
