An assault on a central Israeli town early Saturday left 11 people injured as Iran’s supreme leader pledged a retaliatory response to Israel’s recent attack. Israeli airstrikes continued in Gaza and Lebanon amidst the escalating tensions.
The pre-dawn attack on Tira was part of a series of bombardments from Lebanon. Israeli air defenses intercepted many of the projectiles while air raid sirens blared across the country. The Magen David Adom emergency service reported 11 injuries from shrapnel and glass shards in a direct hit on a building in Tira, a predominantly Israeli Arab town.
Lebanon’s Hezbollah group, backed by Iran, claimed responsibility for using missiles and drones to target military and intelligence facilities in northern and central Israel. They stated attacks on various Israeli military bases, including Unit 8200 base in Glilot and Palmachim Air Base in central Israel.
Israel’s military did not confirm the success of the Hezbollah strikes and refrained from commenting on the group’s claims.
