Ms. Ooi received a letter on March 15, 2022, from her employer, instructing her to cease work due to non-compliance with the COVID-19 vaccine mandate. Despite having a valid exemption until April 1, she was placed on unpaid leave after failing to meet the vaccination requirements.
After a lengthy legal process, Ms. Ooi successfully argued that her employer’s decision to place her on unpaid leave was unlawful. The court ruled in her favor, stating that the department had acted unreasonably in applying the policy to her specific circumstances.
