According to one of the hosts on CNN, President Biden’s team provided two radio interviewers with questions in advance this week. Andrea Lawful-Sanders, host of āThe Sourceā on WURD in Philadelphia, stated that she received a list of eight questions ahead of her interview with Biden on Wednesday and approved of them. She confirmed that the questions were sent by the White House.
Lauren Hitt, a spokeswoman for the Biden campaign, clarified that it was actually campaign aides, not White House officials, who sent the list of questions. Hitt mentioned that while it is common for the campaign to share preferred topics, interviews are not conditioned on accepting these questions.
Following internal discussions, the campaign decided to stop offering suggested questions to hosts for interviews. Lawful-Sanders emphasized that she did not feel pressured to ask specific questions and chose those that were important to the Black and brown communities in Philadelphia.
The campaign had arranged interviews with hosts of radio programs with large Black audiences to address concerns about Biden’s mental fitness after the previous debate. Despite recent doubts from some Democratic lawmakers, Biden’s campaign remains resolute about his candidacy.
During an ABC News interview, Biden referenced his exchanges with Black radio hosts as evidence of his ability to handle the campaign. While it was not disclosed to the hosts, Biden had received the questions in advance. Despite this, he stumbled over some of them during the interviews.
Interviewed on different radio shows, Biden faced challenges in articulating his responses. Campaign events in Pennsylvania aim to showcase his energy and enthusiasm following concerns raised about his performance in the debate.
Mr. Blackwell, who interviewed the radio hosts, expressed surprise at the preapproved questions. He noted similarities between the questions asked by different hosts and questioned the effectiveness of pre-sent questions in demonstrating the president’s vitality.
The campaign aims to showcase Biden’s vigor through upcoming events in Pennsylvania, following recent criticisms of his performance. Despite challenges in interviews, Biden’s team remains steadfast in their support for his candidacy.
