President Biden delivered a speech in Normandy, echoing former President Reagan’s iconic address from the same historic site. Emphasizing the importance of upholding democracy, Biden warned against the dangers of straying from the fight for democracy, drawing lessons from history. The speech took place at Pointe du Hoc, a key World War II site, commemorating the 80th anniversary of D-Day. At the site where Reagan once honored the heroes of that era, Biden sought to draw parallels with the current challenges posed by Russian aggression in Europe. The event marked a significant milestone for the aging veterans in attendance, many of whom were over 95 years old. Biden highlighted the bravery and sacrifice of the U.S. Army’s 2nd Ranger Battalion, who played a crucial role in the D-Day invasion. The President’s speech at the monument built to honor these heroes underscored the enduring spirit of ordinary Americans achieving extraordinary feats. As Biden seeks re-election amidst economic challenges, he faces approval ratings that pale in comparison to Reagan’s during his successful re-election bid. His remarks also included criticism of Russian President Putin, whom he has known for over 40 years, labeling him as a dictator.
He is a dictator, and he is facing challenges in maintaining unity in his country while continuing the ongoing assault.
He did not confirm whether U.S. weapons had been deployed in Russia after he approved the recent supplies to Ukraine.
“We are not supplying weapons for attacks on Moscow or the Kremlin, but rather to defend against the conventional weapons being used by Russians to harm Ukrainians across the border,” stated President Biden.
