President Joe Biden unexpectedly appeared in the White House press briefing room to address reporters, marking his first briefing since taking office. He expressed satisfaction with the resolution of a recent strike in U.S. ports and highlighted the significant job gains in September. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported an addition of 254,000 jobs, surpassing expectations. Biden confidently stated, “Weâve proven them wrong,” in reference to economic projections.
During the briefing, Biden also discussed the need for additional funding to address the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. He fielded questions from reporters, particularly focusing on escalating tensions in the Middle East. Biden revealed that the Israeli government was deliberating its response to a recent missile attack by Iran, emphasizing the importance of rallying allies to prevent a full-scale conflict.
Following a missile attack by Iran on Oct. 1, Biden expressed optimism about averting a full-scale war between Iran and Israel, confident in the ability to find a peaceful resolution. Despite facing criticism for his limited appearances in the press briefing room, Biden affirmed continued support for Israel and pledged to protect the nation. When humorously asked about re-entering the 2024 race, Biden jokingly replied, “I’m back in,” before leaving the briefing room.
