During an interview with ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos, President Joe Biden adamantly asserted that he was the most qualified candidate to lead the country and defeat Donald Trump.
Despite concerns about his mental and physical state following a poor debate performance, Biden repeatedly claimed, “I just had a bad night,” when pressed by Stephanopoulos.
When asked about undergoing an independent medical evaluation, Biden evaded a direct answer, stating, “I have a cognitive test every single day. Everything I do. Not only am I campaigning but I’m running the world.”
In an attempt to mitigate the fallout from the debate, Biden’s team offered various excuses, including jet lag and a cold, for his performance.
Despite efforts to downplay concerns about his age and abilities, Biden’s lackluster debate showing raised doubts even among his staunchest supporters in the media.
Biden, who presented himself as a transitional figure in 2020, now faces skepticism about his fitness to lead the country at 81 years old.
In the interview with Stephanopoulos, Biden defended his capabilities but faced questions about his recent lapses and perceived frailty.
As scrutiny continues, Biden maintained that only a message from God would convince him to step aside from the presidential race.
