Make America Great Again Inc. received a significant $50 million donation from Republican donor Timothy Mellon in May, as reported to the Federal Election Commission (FEC) on June 20. This contribution marks one of the largest checks of the 2024 presidential election cycle.
Timothy Mellon, a prominent political donor and heir to the Mellon family fortune, has been a key supporter of former President Donald Trump and independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s presidential campaign. With a total contribution of $65 million to MAGA Inc., Timothy Mellon stands as the largest single supporter of the former president.
In May, MAGA Inc. amassed $68.8 million in donations while spending $9.5 million, resulting in a substantial cash reserve of $93.7 million. The Trump campaign, along with its allies and the Republican National Committee, announced a collective fundraising total of over $141 million in May, with donors reportedly motivated by the New York conviction of former President Trump.
The impact of these financial contributions on narrowing the cash gap between the Trump campaign and President Biden’s reelection effort remains to be seen. As of the latest reports, neither President Biden’s campaign committee nor his associated PACs have disclosed their monthly financial statements. The Biden campaign, however, asserts access to over $192 million in cash on hand and challenges the Trump campaign to demonstrate their financial support.
Overall, the significant donations and fundraising efforts leading up to the 2024 presidential election highlight the substantial financial backing behind key political figures and campaigns.
