A 5-year-old boy in Calabasas is recovering at home after being attacked by a mountain lion at Malibu Creek State Park. The incident occurred on Sunday evening in the Tapia Park section of the state park, where the boy was playing near his family’s picnic table.
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife reported that the mountain lion grabbed the boy by the head, causing significant but non-life-threatening injuries. The boy’s father intervened, fighting off the lion until it released his son. The mountain lion then climbed up a nearby tree where it was later euthanized by a park ranger.
The boy was initially treated at Northridge Hospital Medical Center and has since been released. However, he had to return to the hospital for complications related to his eye injuries. Malibu Creek State Park, located in the Santa Monica Mountains, is known for its scenic beauty and was once a popular filming location for movies and television shows.
