A shocking video captured the moment a son seeking revenge shot his father’s alleged killer in a courtroom in Brazil.
Cristiano Alves Terto, 27, was shown firing six shots at Francisco Cleidivaldo Mariano De Moura, 38, during a jury session for his father’s murder trial in São José do Belmonte, Brazil, as reported by CNN Brasil.
The courtroom footage depicts Terto charging towards De Moura with a .38-caliber revolver and firing at least two shots at close range, causing chaos among jurors and court attendees.
Terto continued to shoot at De Moura as he tried to seek cover, eventually emptying the revolver of all six rounds.
After the shooting, Terto struck De Moura on the head with the gun before fleeing the courtroom. Two women who tried to intervene were left in shock.
Police later arrested Terto on suspicion of attempted murder. The incident occurred on Nov. 29 but the video was only released to the public on Monday.
De Moura survived the shooting and was transferred to a different hospital following the incident.
The motive behind the shooting was De Moura’s alleged involvement in the killing of Terto’s father back in 2012.
De Moura confessed to shooting Terto’s father after a confrontation on the father’s farm, leading to a fatal outcome.
De Moura fled after the incident but was eventually apprehended by the police.
Following the courtroom shooting, De Moura remains alive and free, with the trial for the original crime yet to be reconvened.
The Pernambuco Court of Justice has not set a new date for De Moura’s trial, according to a local Brazilian outlet.
