She faces a potential sentence of up to 35 years in prison for stealing over $38 million in county funds from 2012 to 2024. Gutfahr used the stolen money to purchase multiple cars, renovate her owned ranches, and cover personal expenses for herself and her family. In addition to the prison sentence, she is required to pay restitution to Santa Cruz County and federal taxes amounting to $13,143,526.
