Brickbat: Typo Trauma

A spelling error inadvertently caused Pinellas County, Florida, sheriff’s deputies to force a man and his epileptic teenage daughter out of their vehicle at gunpoint. According to a local TV station, a deputy ran the license plate of the car and it returned as stolen. However, approximately 10 minutes after the driver was stopped, footage from the dashboard and body cameras revealed that the deputy who inputted the license plate had made a typing error. Another deputy can be heard expressing frustration at the lack of competence among the team. “Everyone makes mistakes,” remarked the deputy who conducted the license plate check.
