A dispute over a parking spot in Queens turned violent when a brute attacked an elderly man with a baseball bat on Wednesday evening, according to police sources.
Michael Magill, 51, got into a confrontation with a 72-year-old man at the residential corner of Austin Street and 77th Avenue in Forest Hills around 6:50 p.m., authorities and sources reported.
The situation escalated when Magill struck the elderly man in the head with the bat, as per the sources.
The elderly man received treatment at the scene for a head injury and was reported to be in stable condition, according to cops and sources.
Magill, who resides a few blocks away from the incident location, was taken into custody at the scene and charged with assault on a victim 65 or older, a felony offense, as stated by the authorities.
Just weeks before this incident, two individuals brutally attacked a Bronx fruit vendor to death with a baseball bat in what seemed to be an unprovoked act, according to authorities and sources.
Leslie Sanchez, 56, succumbed to his injuries two days after the heartless attack, as confirmed by the police.
Suspects Romel Jarrett, 37, and Terrence Downes, 44, were apprehended prior to Sanchez’s passing and charged with second-degree attempted murder and first-degree assault, with the possibility of upgraded charges next month, as announced by the Bronx DA’s Office.
