A man attacked an elderly man after he refused to let him into the lobby of a Manhattan apartment building over the weekend, according to authorities.
The 79-year-old victim was in the lobby of his building near East 23rd St. and Third Ave. in Gramercy Park just after 6 p.m. on Saturday when a stranger asked him to open a door and let him inside, the police said.
The elderly man declined, leading to a violent altercation that ended with the attacker punching the senior in the face, law enforcement officials reported.
The attacker then fled, heading west on East 23rd St.
The victim sustained minor injuries and was transported to NYU Langone Medical Center, where he was reported to be in stable condition.
The assailant, as shown in surveillance footage released by the NYPD, was last seen wearing a fur-hooded jacket, blue sweatpants, and a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt.
As of Thursday, he was still at large.
