A woman fights for her life after being choked outside Times Square hotel
A woman was left fighting for her life after being choked by a man outside the Riu Plaza New York Times Square Hotel, according to law enforcement sources.
The attacker brutally strangled and dragged the woman, leaving her unconscious on the sidewalk in front of the hotel at 305 West 46th Street. Police sources revealed that the entire incident was captured on hotel surveillance footage.
The woman, believed to be in her 30s, was rushed to Mt. Sinai Hospital where she remains unconscious and in critical condition.
Authorities were alerted to the incident when the injured woman arrived at the hospital. It was later discovered that the assault took place outside the hotel, prompting an investigation by the police.
Footage from the hotel’s security cameras showed the assailant violently dragging the woman along the sidewalk.
An image obtained by The Post shows the suspect wearing a tan coat, black pants, black beanie, and white sneakers near the hotel.
The NYPD stated that it is unclear whether the victim was acquainted with the attacker or what triggered the assault.
As of Wednesday night, the perpetrator remains at large, and the investigation is ongoing.
This incident occurred amidst a surge in assaults in the Midtown North Precinct, with a 63.3% increase in felony assaults compared to the previous year, according to NYPD data.
