A Witness Shoots Knife-Wielding Man Harassing Midtown Hotdog Vendor
A tense situation unfolded in Midtown on Tuesday night when a 39-year-old man began harassing a hotdog vendor on 33rd Street and Broadway. The man pulled out a knife, scraped it on the ground, and pointed it at a group of four men standing nearby, according to police and sources.
One of the men took action and pulled out a gun, shooting the instigator in the leg in an effort to protect themselves and others, as per police sources.
While one person is in custody, it is unclear at this time whether they are the shooter or not, according to sources.
The shooting victim, who remains unidentified, was found to have an outstanding warrant, according to police.
EMS transported the injured man to Bellevue Hospital for treatment.
The investigation into the incident is currently ongoing.
