A man from California has been arrested on suspicion of murder after his roommate’s body was discovered buried in their backyard, as reported by the police.
Richard Thomas Martinez, aged 48, was taken into custody in connection with the alleged crime.
Police in Riverside responded to a residence on Sylvan Drive in Riverside, California, after receiving reports that a resident had been missing for several days.
During the initial investigation, Martinez, who lived at the residence, confessed to killing his roommate. He was detained by the police, and a search of the property was conducted.
Detectives from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, along with cadaver dogs, were brought in to assist with the investigation.
The cadaver dogs indicated an area of freshly disturbed soil in the backyard. Upon digging, human remains were discovered.
The victim was identified as 31-year-old Bradley Minder.
Initial findings from the investigation suggest that Martinez and Minder had a confrontation before Martinez allegedly killed Minder and buried him in the backyard.
Martinez has been booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center and is being held without bail.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
