The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is leveraging U.S. support for Israel and Ukraine to justify its debt trap diplomacy, positioning China as a global savior. The Wumao, the CCP’s online army, are actively promoting this narrative, using U.S. actions as a tool in their propaganda campaign to tarnish the image of the United States and promote China as a force for good in the world. Their slogan “China builds, U.S. bombs” is gaining traction in liberal media outlets, CCP state media, and the South China Morning Post. As evidence of China’s supposed altruism, they point to a recent Chinese investment in a light rail project in Lagos, Nigeria.
