A Chicago Woman Arrested for Allegedly Stabbing Boyfriend to Death
A Chicago woman identified as Whitney Wilcox, 40, was re-arrested on Dec. 2 for the murder of her boyfriend Jeremy Rodgers, 46, nearly a year after his death, as reported by The Chicago Sun-Times.
Initially arrested around the time of Rodgers’ death but released without charges, Wilcox is now facing first-degree murder charges due to new DNA evidence that has emerged.
According to court records, as Wilcox waited for police questioning recently, she asked her Google device to play songs and danced in handcuffs in her living room.
The incident unfolded on the early morning of Feb. 26 when Wilcox called 911 from their West Ridge apartment, reporting Rodgers had been stabbed but claiming ignorance about the perpetrator, as per Cook County prosecutors.
When officers arrived, they found Rodgers bleeding in the bathroom with Wilcox allegedly stating she had stabbed him in self-defense during a fight.
Before succumbing to his injuries, Rodgers purportedly named Wilcox as his assailant while receiving medical treatment, leading to his death being classified as a homicide.

Despite initial claims of self-defense, the recovery of a bloody knife with Wilcox’s DNA on the handle and Rodgers’ blood on the blade led to the new charges against her.
Currently held without bail, Wilcox is awaiting trial with her next court appearance scheduled for Dec. 24.
