The Christian School’s Conservative Beliefs
The small Christian school where a teenage girl committed a tragic act of violence in Wisconsin holds staunchly conservative beliefs. The school rejects the theory of evolution and asserts that local government is divinely ordained, according to its statement on faith.
Authorities are still investigating the motive behind the shooting at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, where 15-year-old Natalie “Samantha” Rupnow took the lives of another student and a teacher. She also injured three other students and a teacher.
The school’s belief statement emphasizes that human beings were directly created by God and not through evolution. It also states that civil government is established by God to punish wrongdoers and protect the righteous.
Abundant Life Christian School is a founding member of Impact Christian Schools, a network of Christian educational institutions in Wisconsin. The group is committed to providing education that aligns with their faith.
Barbara Wiers, the Elementary and Schools Relations Director, expressed the school’s beliefs during a press conference, stating, “In spite of tragedy, God is working. We have complete faith that He will guide us through this difficult time.”
