Coal Australia stated that ‘Australia’s prosperity is directly linked to the success of our coal industry.’
Recently, Coal Australia launched a campaign to promote the use of coal as a primary source of energy in Australia. As power generation becomes a prominent issue in the upcoming elections, with federal Labor advocating for renewables and Opposition Leader Peter Dutton proposing nuclear reactors at former coal station sites, Coal Australia’s Chair Nick Jorss aims to emphasize coal’s importance in the energy sector.
The campaign includes a new television ad to highlight coal as a reliable power source crucial for steel production, infrastructure development, and economic growth. Coal remains Australia’s second-largest export, contributing significantly to the national economy.
Senator Matt Canavan has expressed strong support for coal, emphasizing its reliability in providing consistent and affordable electricity. He believes that coal-fired power is essential for maintaining a stable energy supply, especially in comparison to intermittent renewable sources like solar and wind.
Despite projections indicating the closure of coal power stations in the near future, Coal Australia remains committed to promoting coal as a viable and competitive energy source in Australia’s energy landscape.
