Comedian Tim Dillon took on the persona of the late UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in Netflix’s “Torching 2024: A Roast of the Year,” just weeks after Thompson was tragically shot in Manhattan.
Dressed in a similar fashion to Thompson, Dillon donned a navy blue pullover, blood-stained light blue collar shirt, tan khakis, and chains as he graced the stage at The Bellwether in Los Angeles.
With ghostly gray makeup on his face, Dillon’s performance was met with a mix of nervous laughter and cheers from the audience.
Embracing the role, Dillon introduced himself as the deceased executive in front of a sign that read “UnitedHellcare CEO,” joking, “I’m going to hell for this, you might as well laugh.”
Addressing the public’s reaction to his murder, Dillon, as Thompson, humorously remarked about reading “tweets” of people being happy about his demise.
Continuing the act, Dillon made quips about UnitedHealthcare’s claim denial practices, garnering a mix of shocked groans and laughter from the audience.
As the performance progressed, Dillon’s jokes about the healthcare company and the accused assassin, Luigi Mangione, pushed the boundaries of humor.
The roast, hosted by comedian Jeff Ross, also featured appearances by actor John Stamos and comedians Mark Normand and Sam Morril.
Dillon’s set was teased as being as tasteless as it appeared, promising a no-holds-barred performance.
Luigi Mangione, the alleged killer of Brian Thompson, was apprehended in Pennsylvania after the fatal shooting in Manhattan and received attention from admirers during his time in custody.
An Ivy League graduate from a wealthy family, Mangione reportedly planned the murder in advance due to his disdain for the health insurance industry.
