Efforts by the US, Canada, and France to broker ceasefires have consistently demanded full Israeli withdrawals from Gaza and the Gaza/Egypt border, conditions that would only perpetuate terrorist activities against Israel.
Israel’s rejection of ceasefire demands that would only perpetuate terror attacks demonstrates a commitment to defending itself against unwarranted criticism from those unfamiliar with the region’s complexities.
Reliable statistics indicate that Israel has managed to minimize collateral damage on the civilian population of Gaza, despite Hamas leaders’ intentions to provoke civilian casualties to discredit Israel globally and incite domestic anger in Gaza.
With Iran’s recent direct attack on Israel using maximum force, targeting civilian areas, the Arab world would likely celebrate if Israel were to retaliate by targeting Iran’s nuclear military program, oil facilities, and oppressive regime structures. A majority of Iranians are believed to oppose the oppressive totalitarian rule imposed on them since the removal of the Shah in 1978.
Considering past errors of American administrations in supporting anti-democratic regimes, it is not for the U.S. to advise Israel to show restraint at this time. The ideal way to mark the anniversary of October 7, 2023, would be a decisive strike on Iran, known as a major supporter of terrorism worldwide. Such action could lead to stronger ties between Israel and Arab nations, moving towards solidarity and a weakened Iran.
It is crucial for Israel to take necessary measures, and a majority of rational voices would support such actions. This approach could pave the way for a shift from ongoing conflicts to a more cooperative relationship between Israel and Arab states.
