Former Foreign Secretary Lord Cameron is not included in the interim shadow Cabinet, as confirmed by the Tories.
Conservative Party Chairman Richard Holden has resigned from his position following the party’s significant defeat in the general election. In a letter to former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Mr. Holden expressed his willingness to contribute to the Tory review of the election but stated that he would not lead it himself.
Richard Fuller, the representative for the North Bedfordshire constituency, has been appointed as the new party chairman. Mr. Fuller emphasized the importance of unity within the party to hold the new Labour government accountable.
The Tories also announced that Lord Cameron, the former foreign secretary, has stepped down, with Andrew Mitchell taking over the role. Lord Cameron expressed his support for Mr. Mitchell and his commitment to rebuilding the party after the disappointing election results.
The opposition front bench includes key figures such as Oliver Dowden as deputy leader of the opposition, Jeremy Hunt as shadow chancellor, and James Cleverly as shadow home secretary. Other notable appointments include Victoria Atkins as shadow health secretary, Claire Coutinho retaining her energy security and net zero portfolio, and Kemi Badenoch taking on Michael Gove’s former responsibilities.
Various other positions in the shadow Cabinet have been filled, including James Cartlidge as shadow defense secretary, Ed Argar as shadow justice secretary, and Chris Philp as shadow leader of the Commons.
