The deranged beggar accused of stabbing a woman in a Queens subway station was ordered held without bail
The suspect, Randol Contreras, 24, is facing an attempted murder charge after allegedly stabbing a 23-year-old woman multiple times in her stomach and slashing her face at the Jamaica-Van Wyck E train station in Richmond Hill on Sunday night. The victim is currently in critical condition.
The violent incident occurred when Contreras demanded money from the woman, and upon her refusal, he attacked her, as per court documents.
Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz stated, “We have charged Randol Contreras with attempted murder. A young woman is fighting for her life after being stabbed in an unprovoked attack as she exited the subway system. This defendant allegedly asked the victim for money and then stabbed her multiple times, causing serious injuries.”
Good Samaritans intervened to stop the attack, with Alexander Robles Lino and another individual restraining Contreras until the police arrived. The suspect attempted to flee but was apprehended by the heroic pair.
Contreras, who has no prior criminal record, faces charges of attempted murder, assault, attempted robbery, and weapon possession. He was held without bail during his arraignment and is scheduled for his next court appearance on Friday.
