A man suspected of pouring hot coffee onto a nine-month-old baby during an “ambush” at a picnic in Hanlon Park, Brisbane, has been identified by detectives who have released an image for public assistance.
The incident occurred while the baby’s parents were enjoying an outing with friends, leading to serious burns for the baby boy. A nearby nurse rushed to help as the mother screamed, revealing the extent of the baby’s skin damage.
The baby underwent surgery and remains in stable condition in the hospital. The mother, who remains unidentified, expressed her shock and distress at the attack, calling for the perpetrator to be found and charged.
Police have described the suspect as a man aged between 30 and 40 years old with a proportionate build and tanned skin, wearing a black hat, glasses, a blue shirt, and shorts. Detectives are urging the public to review CCTV footage and provide any information that may assist in the investigation.
