A Twitter thread discussing the etymology of Triscuit crackers has recently caught the attention of many. The word “Triscuit” was believed to mean “thrice cooked” due to the translation of “biscuit” meaning “twice cooked”. However, writer Sage Boggs uncovered the true origin by delving into old Triscuit advertisements from the early 1900s. These ads revealed that the crackers were “baked by electricity”, leading to the realization that Triscuits are actually “electric biscuits”. The Nabisco corporation eventually confirmed this revelation, rewarding Boggs with a large batch of complimentary crackers.
