The Emir of Qatar is scheduled to visit Ottawa for a two-day trip this week, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.
Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani will have his first official visit to Canada and will meet with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during his stay.
The discussions between the two leaders will focus on various global issues such as the situation in Gaza, Afghanistan, and Ukraine.
Efforts to mediate a ceasefire in Gaza between Israel and Hamas involving the United States, Qatar, and Egypt have been ongoing for months.
Aside from addressing these pressing matters, the visit is also an opportunity to enhance trade and investment relations between the two countries, as stated by the PMO.
Trudeau emphasized the importance of the partnership between Canada and Qatar in a statement.
