Killer mom Susan Smith’s Former Prison Guard Lover Opposes Parole
Susan Smith, a mother convicted of killing her two young sons, is up for parole after serving three decades in prison. Her former prison guard lover, Alfred Rowe, believes she should not be released, claiming she has not learned from her time behind bars.
Rowe expressed his concerns in an interview with NewsNation, stating that Smith has only become a better criminal during her time in prison. He believes that she is not ready for parole and may re-offend if released.
Smith, now 52, became eligible for parole this year and is scheduled for a hearing on Nov. 4. Rowe, who had an affair with Smith while she was an inmate, believes that she will struggle to stay away from drugs and alcohol, potentially leading to a violation of her parole conditions.
Despite Smith’s plea for freedom, her ex-husband, David, has vowed to oppose her release at the upcoming hearing. He is determined to prevent her from being granted parole and believes she should remain behind bars for the heinous crime she committed.
Smith was sentenced to life in prison in 1994 for drowning her two sons, Michael and Alexander, by driving her car into a lake with them strapped in their car seats. She initially claimed they were abducted by a black man, but later confessed to the murders.
Rowe, reflecting on his past relationship with Smith, admitted to falling for her manipulation and charm. He now regrets his involvement with her and believes she is not prepared to reintegrate into society.
As the parole hearing approaches, the debate over Smith’s release continues, with her ex-husband standing firm in his opposition. The decision on whether she will be granted parole remains uncertain as the November hearing draws near.
